Monday 20-02: Today is my first day at Fund Management. This department operates on the fore-ground. Social investments, talking with clients, visiting sites are all elements of Fund Management. This morning we started off doing pretty much nothing. I arrived at 8:30 at Tshikululu and we had a 5-minute meeting at 9:00. At 10:00 Bekisisa told me a lot about Knowledge and Management, it is a sub-group of Fund Management. The name says it already, but the big streams of data and information are organized and stored. It is a big job, especially because Tshikululu switches from databases. After Bekisisa ended his story, Ashley told me what I was going to do for today; All the clients' documents and data were to be moved to Sharepoint. It was my job to firstly rename documents of Epoch and Optima (a client), in order for it to be categorized. Secondly, I had to implement a big part of data into Sharepoint. It looked like a big Excel Spreadsheet, and I had to fill out the blanks with general information. Think of Document type, Business unit, Document Originator, Enterprise keywords etc. The big advantage of Fund Management was that we had pizza for lunch. That was great. Anyway, back to the data. In total I think I have renamed 200 documents and implemented a hundred. It was a administrative day, but it had to be done. Today will be more exiting as we are going to do a site-visit in Soweto.
